One of the main components in the computer device is a Power Supply, without a power supply, computer would not be able to work.
When a desktop computer has a problem, for example, can't be started, hang, or always restarting itself frequently, it can be caused by many reasons, one of which could be due to power supply that has a problem / damaged, and must be replaced with new one.
To make sure an ATX power supply is damaged or not (ATX is Advanced Technology eXtended,is a common type of power supply used on any desktop computer at the moment), we can check this by measuring the output voltage at each output terminal using a volt meter / AVO meter (Ampere Volt Ohm meter).
Measuring an ATX power supply using an AVO meter will indeed obtain accurate results, but require a longer time because we have to measure each output terminal, (+3.3 V, +5 V, +12 V,-5V,-12V ), and we have to understand about the electric voltage and current, and understand how to use the AVO meter. Of course not everyone can do it.
There is an easier way, fast and practical. using special tool to check an ATX power supply, the name is Power Supply Tester.
Easy to use, simply by plugging the output connector of the ATX power supply to the input connector of Power supply tester, then the LED indicator will light on, which represent respectively the voltage, will turn on when the voltage is correct, dies when no voltage.
Also we can check the hard drive / DVD ROM power connector, for ATA or SATA,
Very practical .. compared with using AVO meter.
This tool has been widely circulated, in the computer components stores has been sold, check/search on the internet for detail and for online store. The price is also not too expensive, I bought below 5$ (US) in my local store..
